P. H. Hoeft State Park
The third camping trip of 2007 took place at P.H. Hoeft State Park in Rogers City. Just the three of us again Nathan, Annie and Cappi-Cino. We left on Thursday 6/28/07 and returned on Sunday 7/1/07.
Sorry for the poor picture quality. We forgot our camera and had to resort to cellphone cameras.
This is the view of our site. The Lake Huron beach was behind us but we didn't have direct access. There was a patch of trees between us and the beach.
We didn't spend much time around the firepit this time.
A full stocked cooler for the weekend = $$$
Coffee, bagels and cream cheese = $$$
Camping and memories = PRICELESS
The first night we had some uninvited camping guests. RACCOONS!!! They unzipped are tent and took a bag of Cappi's dog food. Annie was terrified and wanted to go home. She heard them come and go all night. Nathan thought the whole thing was hilarious, except for the constant waking up to an elbow in his side to scare the raccoons away. Annie toughened up and stayed the weekend, but only with the tent zip tied shut from the inside.
This is what we woke up to.
This is how far they unzipped the door.
Annie is pointing at the raccoon footprint. The other picture is after we zip tied the door shut.
We went metal detecting one day on the beach. Cappi was alot of help digging.
We ventured out one day and checked out the local marina and breakwall. We also found a stone quarry bigger than the town we grew up in.
Overall we had a great time. Battling raccoons at night and riding the bike trails during the day. But as always are favorite thing is lounging with our girl.
